Intrinergy LLC, a United States-based builder, owner and operator of renewable energy facilities, has announced that due to increased demand its German subsidiary is doubling its wood pellet production capaciity. Meanwhile, the company has several projects underway in the United States to provide energy for industrial companies through its combined heat and power facilities.

Intrinergy, a U.S.-based renewable energy company, today announced that its German subsidiary, CompacTec KG, is doubling its wood pellet production capacity. Due to volatile and rising fossil fuel prices, the demand for wood pellets continues to grow throughout Europe.

Intrinergy, a U.S.-based renewable energy company, and Shanks Group plc, a leading European waste management company, today announced closing €34 million ($47 million) in debt financing from NORD/LB, one of Germany’s leading renewable energy banks, to begin construction of Intrinergy VARE Holdings, a biomass energy project located in Belgium.

Intrinergy was featured in the September/October 2008 issue of North American Clean Energy, a bimonthly magazine that covers trends and current issues across the renewable energy sector. The article highlights the benefits of converting from fossil fuels to biomass in industrial applications, citing examples of savings realized at the paper mill serviced by Intrinergy’s Wiggins, Mississippi plant. Intrinergy was featured in the September 18, 2008 issue of Clean Technology Insight, a Dow Jones e-newsletter which covers the alternative energy markets. The article highlights Intrinergy’s expanding work in both the U.S. and abroad, as well as the company’s success in securing financing from top-tier investors and private equity firms. In addition, in the piece Intrinergy CEO John Keppler speaks about the growing interest in biomass as rising gas prices and renewable portfolio standards increase the necessity for renewable energy.

The Intrinergy success story was recently highlighted in the September cover story of Global Finance Magazine.
