Intrinergy Europe

Overview

Europe's highly advanced and established biomass industry is a key market for Intrinergy. A leader in green power generation, Europe has been fundamental to Intrinergy's operations since the company's inception. Widespread governmental support for Kyoto has allowed for the aggressive pursuit of sustainable energy solutions and the introduction of new green technology. In Europe, Intrinergy has identified opportunities to develop plants that generate more electricity than is possible in the United States and thereby provide economical energy solutions to industrial partners.

In Europe, biomass development through combined heat and power (CHP) is the central focus. Intrinergy's European operations are twofold: we develop renewable cogeneration plants for industrial partners and acquire small to medium sized existing CHP assets in the European biomass space. Intrinergy has a skilled support team on the ground which has successfully restructured companies such as CompacTec and has pending acquisitions in the same region and sector. With its proactive approach, Intrinergy has made a name for itself in the European biomass market and is regarded as a leader in regional green power generation.

Intrinergy's portfolio is balanced by both new and existing opportunities. Experience gained from the operation of existing facilities is translated into the design of future sites. This structure promotes significant growth and produces a stream of diverse opportunities. We are currently focusing on sites in the U.K., Belgium, France, and Germany, and expect to expand our operations into other European countries in the mid-term.

Intrinergy's cogeneration plants typically generate up to 10MW of electricity and up to 20MW of heat in the following forms:

  • Electricity for co-located industrial partners;
  • Electricity sold to the grid;
  • Steam for an industrial user;
  • Heat to dry wood for pellet manufacturing;
  • Hot water for a district heating loop.
