Benefits

Intrinergy makes useful and productive otherwise low value materials (such as biomass, rubber crumbs, or wood chips), and uses these materials to create a renewable source of energy for its clients. The advantages of this process are multifold and produce financial, strategic, environmental, and community benefits:

Financial (Cost Savings)

  • Intrinergy can charge less per MMBTU and kilowatt hour than traditional fossil fuel-based energy suppliers for customers meeting our energy demand profile.
  • Intrinergy eliminates exposure to energy price variability. Because we offer long-term contracts, energy costs from Intrinergy are fixed, stable, and predictable for the length of the contract term (typically 10-15 years).

Strategic (Positioning your Company for the Future)

  • A renewable cogeneration project prepares your company for proposed and unexpected future changes in regulations, which could add a significant financial burden to your facility.
  • Intrinergy has developed strategic relationships with verifiers and validators as well as brokers and buyers of renewable energy credits, and we have become experts in monetizing carbon credits and RECs both on the state level and in the voluntary market.

Environmental

  • An Intrinergy solution reduces net greenhouse gas emissions and regional landfill contributions.
  • It conserves natural resources by replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources.
  • In 2008, Intrinergy will offset 60,000 tons of carbon, and already for 2009, the company has contracted for more than 200,000 tons of carbon reduction.

Community

  • With the high cost of energy threatening job security, Intrinergy keeps plants and businesses competitive, enabling workers to keep their jobs; additionally, projects create new jobs in communities (including construction, engineering, maintenance, and management jobs).
  • We lower the burden on local authorities and governments because we often convert biomass materials that would otherwise be landfilled, such as fiber residues and yard trimmings.
