Feedstock Procurement Forester

Intrinergy, a rapidly growing renewable energy company has an exciting opportunity for a Feedstock Procurement Forester. We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial, customer focused, individual with the ability to grow with our organization. The Feedstock Procurement Forester will procure woody biomass for current operations, develop procurement plans for planned facilities and grow the fiber supply business. Strong analytical competence and negotiations skills are required. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are also required. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or equivalent experience.

Part-time Research and Data Entry Assistant

Intrinergy, a rapidly growing renewable energy company is seeking candidates who can research biomass energy topics and develop executive briefs summarizing assigned topics. Additional duties include database development and data entry. Candidates must possess strong writing skills and be comfortable performing internet research and distilling complex topics and considerable amounts of information in to brief reports.

Business Managers/Developers

Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate has a technical background (i.e. mechanical or chemical engineering) with 5+ years experience in plant operations, customer management, and Profit/Loss responsibility. Experience in the energy industry is highly regarded.

Job Description: Intrinergy is seeking Business Managers/Developers who can turn Intrinergy's domestic energy contracts for steam and electricity into functioning, profitable energy businesses ultimately transforming a value proposition into reality and renewable energy potential into results. This person will support Intrinergy's sale team in contract origination and then steward these signed contracts through design, engineering, financing, construction and start-up; ultimately delivering an energy facility and a business plan to Intrinergy's operations team for ongoing operation. This person must have the leadership and interpersonal skills to collaboratively work with teams comprised of internal and external functional specialists to drive this effort. Additionally, the Business Manager/Developer may at times serve as the primary interface with customers and will work closely with external technology suppliers and consultants. The successful Business Manager/Developer will focus these internal and external resources on driving the projects forward, spending capital wisely, and insuring long-term reliability. Business Managers/Developers are at the forefront of an exciting industry and the energetic candidate will embrace the challenges of that and share in the rewards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop an executable business plan for project concepts brought under contract by Intrinergy sales and origination team.
  • Serve as the owner/operator during conceptual and detailed engineering.

Environmental Permitting, Engineer

Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate possesses an engineering background, a passion for improving the environment, and at least 2-4 years of relevant work experience, particularly in air permitting. Must have superb interpersonal skills to interface with customers, regulators and vendors, excellent writing skills to persuade convincingly, and strong presentation skills to articulate the benefits of a renewable energy and permitting strategy. Experience in the biomass field a plus.

Job Description: Intrinergy is currently seeking an enthusiastic and thorough Environmental Permitting Engineer for our Richmond, VA office. The company possesses an international portfolio of renewable energy projects and is executing a strategy to add 5-10 new facilities a year. This person will lead the environmental permitting activities for Intrinergy’s rapidly growing portfolio of renewable energy facilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop the strategy for and manage the preparation of permit applications for new renewable energy facilities.
  • Assist in the selection of control equipment and emissions factors for facilities under design.
  • Steward applications through the permitting process by negotiating permit language with permitting agencies and providing support to project managers.
  • Manage consultants and relationships with permitting agencies.
  • Manage environmental reporting for existing facilities.
  • Perform due diligence related to environmental issues for acquisition opportunities.
  • Monitor changes in environmental regulations.

Project Managers/Engineers

Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate possesses a chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering degree (BS minimum) with at least 3-5 years of experience in a combination of capital project implementation and process engineering. Experience in the energy industry is highly regarded.

Job Description: The Project Manager is responsible for the process of final project definition, scope development, budget/timeline management, and team leadership to construct, install, and start-up renewable energy facilities on a customer's site. Energy forms can be synthetic gas, steam, electricity, or a combination of these. Intrinergy has a focused internal engineering team to support these projects in conjunction with external design firms. The project manager is responsible for directing these resources to make the project a success by bringing it across the line on time and within budget. The systems installed rely on standard products as well as new technologies and suppliers. Therefore, the successful project manager will be comfortable driving the project team from an initial goal of delivering energy to the customer to commissioning a renewable energy facility. Travel is approximately 40%.

Process/Power Generation Engineer

Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate possesses an electrical engineering degree with 5+ years of experience in the power generation industry (steam/20 megawatt). The candidate must be able to demonstrate specific leadership in the various phases of projects--Basis of Design, Preliminary Engineering, Detailed Design, Construction, and Commissioning.

Job Description: Intrinergy is currently seeking an aggressive and energetic Process/Power Generation Engineer in our Richmond, VA office. The Process/Power Generation Engineer is the primary technical resource within Intrinergy to drive the technical success of our systems and will work closely with suppliers, project management, and third-party engineers. Specific responsibilities include: preparation of process flow diagrams with mass and energy balances; development of process instrumentation diagrams; leading the preparation of process equipment layouts and plant general arrangement drawings; selection of materials of construction appropriate for process use and service; specification and selection of tanks, pumps, piping, process equipment (including compressors, scrubbers, quench towers, steam stripping, boilers, etc.) for chemicals and flammable fuels; direct interface with clients; managing interfaces with owner's representatives, vendors, outside engineering groups, supply partners and sub-contractors; modeling (ChemCAD, ASPEN, etc.); simulation of various process operations including distillation, evaporation, and/or drying operations, bulk granular solids (grain, wood chips/mulch, coals, etc.) material handling and storage, bulk rail, and tank truck loading/unloading systems; and plant utility systems design, sizing,specifications and selection. Familiarity with Emission Control Technologies is a plus.

The Sales Engineer will be a key member of the deal origination team and will be the primary technical resource in developing the value proposition for the customer. Must have superb interpersonal skills to interface with customers when required, excellent writing skills to persuade convincingly, and strong presentation skills to articulate the benefits of a renewable energy contract/agreement.

Thermal/Combustion Engineer

Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate possesses a mechanical engineering background with 10+ years of experience in the energy industry. The candidate must be able to demonstrate specific expertise in the energy conversion efficiency.

Job Description: Intrinergy is currently seeking an aggressive and energetic Thermal/Combustion Engineer in our Richmond, VA office. The Thermal/Combustion Engineer will be the primary technical resource to ensure proper operating parameters at all of our energy facilities. They will be a key resource in evaluating a variety of feedstocks for their energy content, and must be knowledgeable of the technical solutions available in the market for various boilers and the energy they can provide.
